WAYANAD

Wayanad is 67 kms from Kozikode, located in the north eastern part of Kerala is a green paradise that ecologists would envy. It is surrounded by lush green sloping plains of spice plantations. Situated on the southern summit of the Deccan Plateau, it is blessed with lush tropical forests, undulating slopes with a number of smooth flowing rivers, it still retains its uncorrupted flavour withstanding the aggresion of modern day technologies and materialism. The visitor would be pampered by the gentle gust of wind and mild splashing of water - nature at its very best.

If you wish to approach this place by rail, you can take one of the trains over the Konkan Railway including the Thiruvananthapuram Rajdhani from Mumbai, Delhi, Goa, Mangalore or Ernakulam. The hotels and accomodations available here in the quaint cottage type establishment will add thrill and grandeur to your visit. Take a look at the pictures and decide if Wayanad is worth your visit!!

magzz: Its a wide contrast .. the difference between the rich and the poor are wide and so it is between the urban and the rural!! Cities are very crowded specially the older areas but New Delhi can be quite pleasing!! Kolkata, where I stay has few very decent areas including laketown where I have an appartment .. its all green with waterbodies and my lounge opens upto the small lake behind us!! New sattelite townships that are coming by are also pleasing!! About the newest city coming up in India, check out LAVASA from the web!! You would be amazed to know about it!!

Well, the poor people here live for the moment while people like me work today for tomorrows bread!!

I will tell you about Shalimar Bag(garden) later!! Been there when I was 11 but you know starseeds remember everything .. Lol!!

India is a land of opposites, that is for sure. I never thought India has such wide open areas, because they tell us there are a BILLION people in India! I suppose the big cities are somewhat crowded.

I love the way people in India ride on the outside of the bus up on the roof. No one would do that here, because the bus would get sued if someone fell off of it. In America you can get sued if you look at someone wrong, although we don't believe in the evil eye...LOL!

Anyhow, you people seem to live for the moment, in some ways that is better than planning everything to the minute.

Voting this hub up...I will be back again tomorrow to do the same.

I am trying to think of a hub i would like you to write. I would love to know more about the gardens of Shalimar! Does it really smell like the perfume Shalimar? How can any flower be so wonderful as that? WOW!

maggz: India is really beautiful and awful!! I think all places are made that way balancing the both!!

This place is really awesome and you would have seen alot more alike places had my hub score not dropped!! These are our southern hill stations .. You would be amazed when you see the northern Himalayan hill stations!!

With the kind of support you give me, I think that I will soon be back to publishing rest of this series covering all states of India!! :)
